2/3/21 - Michigan Chemistry Council Commends Appointments to Council on Climate Solutions

LANSING, MI, February 3rd, 2021 – The Michigan Chemistry Council (MCC) today welcomed Governor Whitmer’s appointments to the new Council on Climate Solutions, including experts on manufacturing and energy efficiency.

“The Michigan Chemistry Council appreciates the Governor’s strategic approach to developing a climate plan that will meet long-term challenges while supporting our state’s competitiveness and key industry sectors,” said MCC Executive Director John Dulmes.

“The business of chemistry helps enable innovations like solar panel materials, lightweight and electrified vehicles, and energy-efficient buildings. We are especially encouraged to see particular attention to many of these areas, as well as the need to preserve the energy-intensive manufacturing jobs in our state.”

“The MCC and our companies look forward to working with all partners to develop climate policies that help address this issue while growing jobs and increasing our state’s competitiveness.”

The Michigan Chemistry Council, established in 1967, represents Michigan’s chemical manufacturers, formulators and distributors. Chemistry is one of Michigan’s largest manufacturing sectors, supporting more than 80,000 Michigan jobs and directly impacting more than 96% of all manufactured goods.
