What are some of the services your company provides? 

In the construction space DuPont’s trusted brands include Styrofoam™, Thermax™, Tyvek®, Froth-Pak™, Great Stuff™, Corian® Solid Surfaces and Corian® Quartz which provide a variety of benefits to a structure including thermal protection, air sealing, moisture and water resistance and decorative surfaces. 

What is something you want others to know about chemistry? 

Through chemistry, we provide solutions to protect and beautify residential and commercial structures that enable affordable, healthier and more comfortable living spaces. 

What led you to your current career field? 

I looked for a company that aligned with my work philosophies and core values. I want to enjoy where I work and the team I work with. I want to find a personal passion for the outcomes and have FUN while doing it! 

What do you like most about living in Michigan or your community? 

The opportunities and willingness across the communities where we live, work and play to collaborate on initiatives that drive inclusiveness, well-being and the health of our communities. This is what makes Michigan and, for me, Midland a special place. 

How do you think your job will be most different in 10 years? 

Clearly the pandemic has forced all of us to rethink how work is done. I’m convinced an accelerated evolution of digital solutions will lead to a new era of virtual engagements and tele-commuting that are well beyond what we know and experience today. 

Why do you work with industry groups like the MCC? 

To collaborate with colleagues on any opportunities so that we are well-positioned for success and collaboratively advance both company and industry priorities.

While DuPont serves global markets, how does the company see its relationship to the Midland community? 

DuPont is committed to enhancing the quality of life in the communities we call home. A cornerstone to our living this commitment in Midland is through targeted activities that strengthening families, building communities and empowering the next generation. Our active, hands-on employee volunteering expands across more than 20 local agencies. 

What are some of the key construction issues or trends that DuPont is helping to address? 

A couple trends guiding our future in construction include the introduction of solutions to reduce overall construction cycle times such which helps alleviate the skilled labor shortage, advocacy efforts around green chemistry solutions such a 2nd life materials (repurposing internal waste streams) and enabling healthier indoor living. 

How does DuPont foster innovation at its Michigan sites? 

With a history nearly as old as our country we are a world-class specialty solutions provider. We are a growth company with market-leading global businesses, customer-driven innovation and highly differentiated products. These products will help transform industries and everyday life. Now, that’s exciting. 

Why is Habitat for Humanity such a key partnership for DuPont? 

Our partnership not only helps Habitat to build affordable, efficient, sustainable homes with our construction solutions such as Styrofoam™ and Great Stuff™ but also volunteer opportunities for our employees to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives in their local communities.
